Encephalitis is an acute inflammation of the brain. Encephalitis with meningitis is known as meningoencephalitis. Symptoms include headache, fever, confusion, drowsiness, and fatigue. More advanced and serious symptoms include seizures or convulsions, tremors, hallucinations, and memory problems.

Nursing Diagnosis for Encephalitis
- Risk for injury related to general seizure activity.
- Risk for Infection related to inadequate primary defenses.
- Acute Pain / Chronic related to the infection process, which is marked with the child crying, anxiety.
- Impaired physical mobility related to decreased muscle strength, marked with limited ROM.
- Imbalanced Nutrition : Less Than Body Requirements related to nausea and vomiting.
- Disturbed sensory perception (specify: visual, auditory, kinesthetic, gustatory, tactile, olfactory) related to damage to the central nervous system.
